My reading list is exceedingly eclectic. I'm currently starting Stephen King's sequel to the Shining, Doctor Sleep. On my shelf above waiting a thriller by John Connolly, a fictional bio of Eleanor of Aquitaine, one of Ellis Peters mysteries set in medieval England featuring a monk named Cadfael, the David McCullough bio of Truman and a half dozen of my favorite, Lindsey Davis detective Marcus Didius Falco who works for the Emperor Vespasian (among others) in late 1st century Rome. When he and his wife had their first baby in book 5 or 6 of the series I sobbed like a baby. Davis makes Rome seem a lot like contemporary America only without electricity, a little crueler and a sadly similar political situation (the Golden Rule-he who has the gold, rules). Falco most definitely doesn't have money but he's crazy in love, has a believable family and leads an exciting life. He an endearing cynic. Most recommended.....I savor each one
