Found something Pooper will eat! [View all]

We’ve still been having problems getting calories into her. The vomiting stopped but I think she’s afraid to eat because she had such unholy gastrointestinal upset for so long. In her mind, I think Eating=Puking. Poor baby. Today is only the 2nd day I haven’t had to supplement syringe feed her to make sure she doesn’t get dehydrated again.

Otherwise, she’s in good spirits. We have good days and bad days but it feels like we made some real progress yesterday. The thyroid meds are *finally* starting to work. It definitely didn’t take this long with my other cats who had thyroid issues, but they also didn’t have the vomiting problem.

My sweet baby doesn’t want the Merrick Grain-free Rabbit pâté, or the Earthborn organic, holistic Chicken shreds with delicate gravy, or the Fussie Cat pate in aspic.
Hell no. My girl wants Friskies Lil’ Soups.

They are only a treat so not nutritionally balanced but, at this point, whatever she’ll willingly eat she can have. Also picked up some of the chicken paste lickable treat things in the squeeze tubes today. There’s a whole world of sauce-heavy cat food in pouches I was unaware of. Hoping if we can get her eating more on her own again we can slowly switch back over to regular canned food.

So, things aren’t as good as I hope they’d be by now but she’s hanging in there. If her eating continues to improve I can get start sleeping like a normal person again instead of offering her new food every 4 hours or syringe feeding her. She’s fighting me on taking pills now, too. Feisty is a good sign. Limp surrender and listlessness was so strange to see in her.

I’m just grateful my baby is still with me and finally showing signs of returning to her old self.
