1. One of the most serene experiences of my life

occurred in Katmandu, Nepal in 1995 when weekly we could expect no power after sundown a couple of days a week. Everything went quiet and you could see candlelight twinkling everywhere. People carried on without the frenzy one feels when everything is electrified. People behaved in real time in a more careful and purposeful way. Hospitals, few that there were, still received power. If you look this topic up online, you will read stories of brownouts occurring due to corruption over the past 30 years. Look at the corruption in this country! I'm not benefitting in any way from that, however, I did benefit from those no power evenings 30 years ago. What we have here is a longer life expectancy in hell.
