The Indian government has urged households to shift their electricity use to daytime hours as a way of reducing the countrys dependence on energy imports, which have been affected by the US-Israeli war on Iran.
The greater opportunity, he said, lay in getting people to harness cheap solar power during the day for cooking, charging vehicles and running appliances instead of drawing on fossil-fuel generation at night.
"If that can be shifted before 5pm, then shifting of the use of energy before the sunset will add maximum to our import reduction," he said.
"Install rooftop solar, charge your EV and entirely, in real sense, it is net zero."

(8,369 posts)occurred in Katmandu, Nepal in 1995 when weekly we could expect no power after sundown a couple of days a week. Everything went quiet and you could see candlelight twinkling everywhere. People carried on without the frenzy one feels when everything is electrified. People behaved in real time in a more careful and purposeful way. Hospitals, few that there were, still received power. If you look this topic up online, you will read stories of brownouts occurring due to corruption over the past 30 years. Look at the corruption in this country! I'm not benefitting in any way from that, however, I did benefit from those no power evenings 30 years ago. What we have here is a longer life expectancy in hell.
