I glanced at it briefly and assumed it was a reference to Plato’s Republic. I have never heard of Plateau.
That would be scary if Prof Brakke’s page was vandalized.
A few years ago a page on a site that had a fascinating piece on this crackpot Nick Land in umelec (?) magazine was vandalized.

And this idiotic guy -a true candidate for the Darwin Awards like many I have met over the years - had posted a picture of himself grinning into a mirror. Probably a hacker thing.

What kind of idiot puts himself on display when doing something stupid beats me. The Jan 6 guys did it. My street is filled with the Indian version of those guys. They will learn the hard way now.

This isn’t the US.

Most of us are so worried about seeming stupid we choose to avoid the limelight, correctly thinking that almost no human ever deserves the limelight, least of all those who seek it. Actual, respectable artists like Christian Bale see fame as a torturous and profession-killing part of being an artist.

I never bought that stuff “Do not be afraid to be stupid!”. Please feel free to bring back shame over making a virtue of putting your bowel movements, bodily fluids etc on display. I don’t trust people who like attention. A quiet gated but grassroots community like DU is another matter. Even if something is on the web, humans understand the difference intuitively is my hope. What else can push back the Idiocracy?

My attention is complete shit by now and I am worried based on several very real problems. I was worried I would seem like a fellow traveller with “targeted individuals” or falsely labelled neurotic for pointing out an ott failure of regulation on a staggering scale, whose sheer magnitude makes it unviable.
