31. I'm one of those hit hard...

living from SS check to SS check, and each month it costs more to try to live. It's not just the tariffs on food, etc... although my grocery bill went up from $200 to $250 this past week (and no, I bought basically the same as always, just let a few things I usually buy slide this time around).

But Insurance on House and Car... state property taxes. Everything is maxing out, and killing us.

This month, I had a little over $2000 in SS checks.
House insurance was around $1400+
Car insurance (2 cars) was $500+
Property taxes were over $1500 /six months
About $1200 in medical expenses that my MA didn't pay for hubby's previous hospitalization in Oct.

We're living more and more on using the credit card to get us by for food and necessities. And I hate it. I try to pay them off each month they come in, but what I went through this month, I'll be MONTHS trying to pay it all down and out. And, it has to be done before February, because insurance for the cars comes due 3 Feb. And then we get to hang on until May, when house insurance, cars, and property taxes hit again.

Things is, hubby and I both have chronic conditions. I'm trying to maintain NOT going to docs or specialists (and adding on other meds), by living month to month on my hydrocodone script. Which, if they use AI in healthcare, scares me to death.

Meanwhile, hubby is worse with heart attacks. He HAS to go to the hospital. But we have NO hospital in this little rural town, so we have to travel 45 miles to get to the nearest one. That means, calling EMS so they can transport him. It's all a racket!
