7. On the contrary, while Obama didn't make idle threats, the threat was always assumed

Now that Iran has faced the most that the US has, short of nukes, they know that our military isn't an existential threat.

Remember the quote incorrectly attributed to Lincoln, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt".

This drunken nitwit has shown the WHOLE WORLD that our "Department of War" is feckless. When we spend over a trillion dollars a year, the taxpayers ought to do better than just making some CEOs obscenely rich. This ought to be a very aggressive message that Democrats run with: a massive reformulation of capabilities to give the taxpayers a better ROI with systems that match the 21st-century world we live in.

This "excursion" will have terrible consequences for decades. The overall message should be, "Republicans are only trying to make a few people rich, and they don't care what happens to the 99% and they don't care what happens to the USA after they have extracted as much wealth as they can. They don't care if our defenses are a century old. They don't care if we lose all manufacturing. They don't care if we become far less productive than the countries we compete with economically. They don't care if Americans have a declining standard of living. They just don't." And we should say it out loud and back that up with specific plans that would change all those things.

Meanwhile, after spending hundreds of billions of dollars on the B1 and B2 bomber programs, we are afraid to use them, and are instead upgrading the remaining 79 B-52s with new RR engines and electronic systems to try to keep them flying until 2050. That will make the entire fleet almost 100 years old. The last B52 was produced in 1962. WTF?
