1. He got a Nazi symbol tattooed on his chest.

"He was young! And drunk! And in the military!"

2. He kept it for 18 years.

"He didn't know what it was!"

3. He's made racist comments.

"A long time ago!"

4. He made derogatory comment about mentally challenged people.

"Nobody's perfect!"

5. He said women should take responsibility for their rapes.

"Meh."

Then the scold: "Stop tearing him down with his own words and actions!"
