(15,472 posts)While I do not condone arson, Americans are furious about the costs of healthcare, childcare, forever student loans and getting nickel and dimed to death while people like Michael Hsu, Kimberly Clark's CEO, 'earned' $15.32 million last year, and the basic worker in a warehouse earns less than a living wage. Whole swaths of our labor force earn barely enough to live while these Wall Street financiers, corporate greedheads and billionaire parasites live so high on the hog they think they are above the law.
We feel the immoral nature of these elites, their raw and brutal greed, every time we go to work.
It would be so easy for our species to organize ourselves so everyone's work has meaning and everyone has enough. So easy. But no, we must have greed. We are ruled by few greedy and evil men, men who have risen to the top of the heap in a toxic, brutal corporate culture that encourages and rewards sociopathy.
Instead, billions around the world are wage slaves. 3.5 billion live in poverty, and of those 900 million live in extreme poverty. Every minute on this sacred earth, seventeen human beings DIE of hunger and related causes. Seventeen a minute.
It is time we start standing up forcefully against this shit and get rid of the billionaires, change the rules of corporate governance so workers, consumers and the earth are held equal to shareholder profits. Because right now, shareholder profits are king.
Why does it have to be this way?
Saturday April 11 - we are called upon to participate with the Pope in a prayer vigil for peace.
Friday May 1 - we are called upon to participate in a GENERAL STRIKE. No buying, no work, no school.
