(320 posts)I think you may be pleasantly surprised at the stress-relief caused by NOT following politics/current events.
I'm normally glued to computer hours a day, refreshing or exploring sites for additional information. But hubby has some health issues, and on a weekly (or semi-weekly) occasion I deliver him to rehab door, or consultation room, and I'm away from the "news." As I wait in the car, I read or work crossword puzzles; and to make my trip(s) more efficient (I live in the boonies & travel to the "big city" for medical), I do a bit of grocery shopping, etc. after the appointment. When I get home, I find that I'm feeling better after a 4-6 hour break from "the news." And while I think how much better I could feel with a complete absence, I lack the will-power to NOT turn on the computer.
All I'm saying is that I hope your time away is VERY stress relieving, and encourages progress on your journey of caring for yourself first.
