66. Over the years, I began to look for opportunities

to dress up a bit occasionally. It really can affect the way you carry yourself or behave and I tried to prolong that feeling. When I had a one job where I dressed in business attire, I actually looked forward to going to work and shopping for clothes was a pleasant pastime. Of course, I loved coming home and kicking off those shoes and changing into something more comfortable as well.

I remember reading about how actors in period piece movies or TV shows said they changed considerably when they wore their costumes. It helped them become their character and it affected their movements and posture.

When I was a kid, we loved getting dressed up and going out to eat. It wasn't terribly often, but it was a pleasant change of pace.

I also remember the cigarette smoke though. Almost everyone in our world smoked. I'm sure our clothes reeked of cigarette smoke, but we were so used to it, we didn't notice. We wore a lot of wool in the winter, so it would have especially been stinky.

P.S. I miss those men's hats. They were so classy, unlike these ridiculous and tacky backward baseball caps.
