Maybe we've been smacked so hard we can get it through our pathetic heads.

There was a time, I note, when nobody thought a black candidate would win, and it was a concern I had when a guy named Barack Obama (rhymes with Osama, as in bin Laden) could win.

We had Shirley Chisholm run; we had Jesse Jackson...and maybe others less prominent.

"Rhymes with Osama" was not just a twice elected President, he was a great President, followed by a pathetic fool, but great all the same.
