4. Are you boycotting something if it's a thing you wouldn't do anyway?

For example, I'm not boycotting Wal-Mart; the reason I don't shop there is because I don't like it. The products are shit and the atmosphere is grim. I wouldn't be boycotting Trump's SOTU by not watching it because I wouldn't watch it even if you paid me. Anyhow, a boycott is a thing you do to cause economic or reputational harm. Trump won't be harmed economically if we all tune to a different TV show this evening, nor will his reputation be harmed by millions of people who already hate his guts not watching his shit show. Of course he doesn't deserve our attention but he'll get it anyhow, maybe not by people watching the SOTU live, but by the simple fact that people can't not look at a trainwreck, so we'll watch the commentary and the video clips because we can't help it.
