(68,875 posts)2. No, not everyone else was welcome. Edited to note that a distinction is being made between the meeting and the dinner.

Edited: the meeting and the dinner are two separate events. Moore is not the only governor excluded from both.
More editing: It is possible that at the time Gov. Moore spoke, he was the only one excluded from the dinner, and that Gov. Polis's exclusion came about or became known later in the day.
Feb 7, 2026: Democratic governors disinvited from traditionally bipartisan White House gatherings
It appears there are two separate events, a meeting and a dinner. No Democratic governor is invited to the meeting. Two Democratic governors (so far) are being excluded from the dinner.
Trump is being his usual jerk self; that's no surprise.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore says the White House has singled him out by disinviting him from a pair of events for the nations governors in Washington next week. ... The National Governors Association will be in town for its annual meeting, which typically involves events with the president. Moore, a Democrat, is vice chair of the bipartisan organization.
President Donald Trump has disinvited all Democratic governors from a White House meeting, and a dinner for governors and their spouses will not include Moore or Democratic Gov. Jared Polis of Colorado, according to reports. ... As the nations only Black governor, I cant ignore that being singled out for exclusion from this bipartisan tradition carries an added weight whether that was the intent or not, Moore said in a statement Sunday morning.
On CNN, host Dana Bash asked Moore why he thought he was disinvited from the events. ... I have long learned that Im not trying to get inside of the presidents psyche. Its not a good use of my time, Moore said. ... Its not lost on me that Im the only Black governor in this country, and I find that to be particularly painful, considering the fact that the president is trying to exclude me from an organization that not only all my peers have asked me to help to lead, but then also a place where I know I belong.
Bash pressed Moore on whether he thought he was being excluded due to the color of his skin. ... Well, I dont know, Moore replied. I cant speak to the presidents intent. Its not lost to me, but I cant speak to the presidents intent.

We definitely agree. Good cold afternoon to you too - are you watching fellow Virginian Ilia Kalinin skate in Olympics?

No. I tried watching NBC's coverage, but it's only possible with the sound off.
