VOTER IGNORANCE AND APATHY.
I have no idea which form of behavior is more prevalent. I don't know if there's any way to measure it.
I've known people who weren't that bright...didn't know, didn't want to know, didn't care about knowing.
Those are the people who put Trump back in office.
The ones who REALLY WANTED HIM and COULDN'T WAIT to re-elect him.
The ones who weren't too bright and didn't know much beyond what their cable news show of choice TOLD them. And what they were TOLD is that Trump did a great job with the economy in his first term, so what the hell, sounds good to me, I'm voting for Trump.
Then there was that third group, the one that just didn't care, so they didn't vote.
Ignorance and Apathy.
ON ONE HAND, it is very encouraging to come here, to DU, and have conversations with people who know how this all fits together.
ON THE OTHER HAND, it's pretty depressing to step outside of these conversations and realize how many Americans just don't know and/or just don't care. Oh, they'll complain about food prices. Some of them will blame Biden because Trump told them to. Others will complain about no longer being able to afford healthcare because their monthly premium doubled or tripled because Republicans blocked the ACA subsidies renewal. Of course, they won't blame Republicans. They'll blame...
...and anyone who is "predicting" a "blue tsunami" in the midterms is kidding themselves. WE COULD POTENTIALLY HAVE A "BLUE WAVE" IF WE WORK OUR ASSES OFF FOR IT. But to make the assumption that the average voter is going to connect the dots and understand the true source of their pain is delusional thinking.
AMERICA'S NOT THAT SMART. Trump, in the Oval Office, is PROOF of that.
