She raced in what's now NASCAR Cup - the top tier of NASCAR - for six years (191 races total) and finished in the Top 10 seven times. The term for drivers who never win races is "field car"; she wasn't even that good.

On the other hand, she was beautiful, friendly, popular and good at negotiation so she was able to bring a lot of sponsorship to her team that they probably wouldn't have been able to get otherwise. Like Darrell Waltrip said, what makes a race car fast is what's painted on the hood and having her on the team ensured there'd always be something there.
