Think about all you know and try to map out what his values are and what is important to him. Then look to find areas where HIS values are in line with us and are damaged by Trump.

For example, is he someone without company provided insurance. If he is either self employed or working for a small business or simply working on a job without that benefit, he may now have increased costs for health insurance. This is a very clear issue that divides the party. If he is old enough to have adult kids, could they be impacted?

Does he value the US as a leader on universities, medical research, basic research etc? Does he understand the potential (if not already in motion) brain drain as we lose some of the brightest minds, some US citizens and some immigrant.

In addition to tariffs which you mentioned, these would be good if you think these are issues he would care about.

The key is to focus on what you know moves him.
