Help me with the start of a discussion with a seemingly reasonable person that voted for Trump. [View all]

I started talking to an acquaintance today with whom I'd never brought up politics with.

We got into the tariffs affecting deliveries of some of the materials that we use in our business, and how they might impact him.

His said that he voted for T. twice, and he was happy with what he was doing for our country. At the time he seemed very willing to discuss.

The question is: What might my initial points be about WHY NOT?? I didn't feel that Epstein and being a felon and his racism and misogyny and other hot-button issues would have made for a productive discussion. I did mention DOGE and tariff rebate checks ain't coming, EVER.

What else would you all suggest for an informative, but non-confrontational first volley?
