So... is there any reason they couldn't have stopped the boats and siezed the assets? [View all]
Why is Pete Hegseth ordering the summary execution of alleged criminals?
Why did the U.S. Military not simply stop the boat or engage them on the water? Couldn't the engine have been disabled just as easily and overwhelming naval power brought to bear to sieze the criminals and throw them in Gitmo... or whatever they do?
Why use lethal force when it's not even remotely necessary?
I am certain, at some point, the soldiers who are being tasked to execute these people without due process might struggle with going along with some of the choices they have made. An unlawful order... and summary execution is unlawful. You are not allow to just kill everyone... even in a time of war. Pete Hegseth has gotten people to commit war crimes for his bravado. They will never be punished for it but someone's son or daughter had to kill those people and they didn't have to... they could have just as easily engaged and captured.
What's amazing is how easily everyone just accepts this as ok. It's on CNN and FOX like it's a game show. You get to watch people get executed who were suspected of trafficking narcotics. No trial. No due process. And the world is just ok with it... bizarre.
