Dumpy may not believe in the traditional sense that most prople practicing a religion understand, that is humbling oneself and performing actions or thoughts they believe show submission to some higher power, but he is likely becoming increasingly desperate for anyone at all who will promise him more bites of the proverbial apple.
You wont find him going to a church that tells him about things like loving his enemy or being kind to a stranger, but why should he? Most people who practice religion absolutely do shop for the tax-free house of worship that tells them the things they like to hear, the way they like to hear it. In that way, hes no different. So, you will find him looking for cheat codes. People who tell him as long as he just says he believes, he will live forever! Yay! Thats his speed. Lazy. Heaven for dummies. No improvement needed. Thats what he wants to hear.
