Your note: Cancelling the 2026 midterms would provoke a huge revolt from the US public, even from maga and RepubliCons, with lots of violence. Even the orange regime can see that is a bridge too far. Everything would go down, including billionaire safety and net worths, by a lot. is most important.

I get exasperated at all the statements here that the 2026 elections will be cancelled, in no small part because individual states run their own elections, so maybe Texas will cancel theirs, but other state will. Plus, of course, just in case you haven't noticed, we vote for a whole lot more offices than just the president.
