37. In response to the question, whether this is sexist or not,

May I please interject that I have spent the last 25 years hearing women tell me that Generals of the Army and Admirals of the Navy with their weapons of war are “boys with toys”, that there’s “too much testosterone” for humankind’s own good, that men “are the problem”, that if men had to endure mammograms or childbirth yada yada yada.

Does anyone here think that these are sexist expressions, that men “deserve” these appellations because of their past history? Do I ever see this question asked? Of course, not… We take them as how there are intended and move on to have civilized discussions.

We all know exactly what the congresswoman meant when she said that with a smile and it is a very common takedown of males, and I have spent a career listening to black women describe their husbands, boyfriends, family members who are male as “girls“ in one context or another. I personally think it’s a riot and when people make fun of men, I think it’s a riot.Of course, there are those who would watch a film like The Birdcage and take offense. Really. Come on…

The tragically-deceased comedian Richard Lewis early in his career had a very funny shtick. To paraphrase it went like this: ok ok ok, somewhere there’s an Asian guy who doesn’t have a camera strap on his neck, and ok ok ok, somewhere there’s a Jewish guy who likes to pick up the check for the whole table, and somewhere….etc. it was FUNNY. AOC is funny.

As was stated in another film: Lighten up, Francis.
