In reply to the discussion: Karine Jean-Pierre leaving the Democratic Party because of how they treated Biden [View all]crimycarny
(2,054 posts)I don't see her point of view as anything about giving up or heading for the hills. Bernie Sanders has been an Independent his entire political career.
I dunno, my opinion on this (for what it's worth, which isn't much):
1) I'm grateful that Karina Jean-Pierre's book was not a hit piece on Joe Biden and, instead, defends him at a time when the media is really trying to make the whole "Biden had dementia and the Democratic leadership tried to hide it." a theme for 2026 and 2028. If she can take the wind out of those sails, I feel that helps the Dems more than her switching to Independent hurts the Dems.
2) I honestly don't think many are going to decide their political party based on what party Karina Jean-Pierre is a part of. But I have to wait and see how balanced her view is.
3) Intriguing description of the book was: "She presents clear arguments and provocative evidence as an insider about the importance of dismantling the torrent of disinformation and misinformation that has been rampant in recent elections and provides passionate insight for moving forward."
I'm wondering if she is going to give some firsthand examples of things that were being said in the press versus reality. Now that could be good or bad, I don't know. If she does the "both parties lie" sort of approach, that gets old and is more of a lazy view.
