Yes, Pelosi and Schumer did this privately. But there were constant leaks to the press about those private meetings. That was just a chicken shit way for Pelosi and Schumer to pressure Joe Biden to step down. I'll never forget Rep. Jasime Crockett calling out the leaks. She stood tall.

My belief is they should not have asked Joe Biden to step down the way they did. Particularly, the constant leaking. It was ugly, slimy, and petty. And, again, it didn't help Kamala either.

We forget that Joe still had several months left of his Presidency and had some important things he still wanted to get done. Joe Biden was smarter than everyone else, including those in his own party attacking him. He did as much damage control as he could, going on interviews and holding an hour-long press conference at the NATO Summit. Thus he was able to step down from a place of strength and dignity, which allowed him to hand over the reins to Kamala with grace. Biden came off as the bigger man.
