The ultimately frustrating thing about the "Epstein Files" [View all]

A lot of people actually think there is some grand master list of people who collaborated with Epstein in his sex crimes. Like a guest book for his island or something like that.

That almost certainly does not exist.

The “files” presumably are the entirety of his investigative file. Epstein was a narcissist who loved cozying up to the rich and famous, regardless of how much any of those people may or may not have wanted or solicited that attention.

So his “world” was quite big. And there will be a lot of tentative “ties” to a lot of people simply by virtue of mere association. But being associated with him doesn’t imply guilt, and the fact that one’s name may have appeared at some point in the file doesn’t prove guilt either.

I’ve long said that the Epstein case is fool’s gold for scandal, and that it promises a lot but delivers very little.

That’s why I’ve never put much stock in it or given it too much attention, and I still don’t.

That said…

There is the chance that some of those names go beyond mere association. So I can’t say it’s completely meaningless.

And Trump’s “he likes them young” comment was…weird, at least.
