And the general public kept in the dark.
I accidentally clicked on a channel on tv, and lord behold it was I believed it was the Ted nugent show and what he said was truly stupid and freighting - you dont need books, you can learn what you need to know by learning the surroundings (something like that), and I shut off the tv.

Grammar quibble: "FEWER", not "less" -- if you can individually count an item (i.e., chickens), it's "fewer".
