If you wanted to know who had the most clout after the Party First Secretary, all you had to do was look and see who was placed closest to him on the reviewing stand. It was more reliable than a scorecard at a baseball game.
I always said that the Republicans idolized the Stalinists. They are shedding more of their pretense to the opposite every day.
