Good points. But the post-9/11 hysteria and Islamophobia helped GWB in 2004. During the Iran hostage crisis I seem to recall the MSM portraying Pres. Carter as weak. After the end of the Cold War, Islamophobia seems to have become part of the playbook for the rightwing in many countries.

Anyways, to paraphrase a famous son of Texas about the antiwar bloc:

"I'd rather have them sumbitches inside the tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in."
