In reply to the discussion: POLL: HUGE REASON WHY DEMS LOST The Kyle Kulinski Show [View all]Self Esteem
(1,837 posts)44. Doubtful enough what?
The issue is that Harris saw a drop in Jewish support and even then, Biden still had a very favorable approach to Israel. Had he completely backed away from Israel and refused to support them, any improvement Harris saw with Muslims would likely be negated by losses with Jewish voters.
Again: there was no winning option here. Biden alienating Jewish voters would have hurt Harris too.

My point was that many people got their feelings hurt and didn't vote in the election.

Whatever Biden was going to do about the Israel-Gaza war, he was going to lose votes.

It's not about losing Jewish votes...it's about losing enough Jewish votes.

Doubtful that is enough there are only about 6 million Jewish adults in the US and obviously not all of them voted.

Israel has always been our worst enemy because we refuse to believe that from a foreign policy perspective.

There are also a lot of people who support Israel because they see it as our main ally in the ME.

Yes, indeed. And also many, who support Israel for non-Jewish religious, eschatological, evangelical, end-times reasons.

Yeah, but they aren't independent voters that we're trying to court. However, there are plenty of moderates

And probably MORE "moderates" who voted the cost of eggs and a bag of Doritos.

The poll was conducted by The Institute for Middle East Understanding, a pro-Palestinian foreign-policy advocacy

Harris got 6 million fewer votes than Biden in 2020: 75 million to 81 million.

I am not being hostile, I am just calling out falsehoods in your initial claim (that you are now trying to revise, btw)

I can't even count people I personally know who refused to vote based on Gaza

No. Not enough people bothered to vote. Gaza didn't mean squat in this election.

The Democratic Party should heed the call of the antiwar elements in the US.

McGovern really supported the Vietnam protesters and ending the war. It did not go well: 1972
