He did not get the Republican nomination & did not run in their primary. Funny thing, I had no memory of who the Republian candiate was that year - probably why they can't win a statewide race in Minnesota, their candidates are so forgettable.

Klobuchar was the DFL candiate that year - she got 65% of the vote.
