In reply to the discussion: More about Rachel Maddow [View all]dgauss
(1,468 posts)7. When Rachel Maddow talks about Ultra - her series on the pro-Nazi movement
that tried to overthrow the government before WWII, she mentions the people that stood up to that. She seems genuinely impressed and inspired by all those people, often just ordinary citizens that took a lot of risks. Lots of untold stories of people who stepped up and put a lot on the line to do the right thing.
I had the thought that her research into that part of the story in that period of time may have inspired her to also step up and do whatever she can this time around. I have a feeling she'll be pretty fearless.

Becuse I hope she has someone who cherishes her, loves her and is her partner in life.

if she's a modern day Woodward and Bernstein, what's her Watergate coverage exactly? What won her a Pulitzer?

Haven't read her books, but I definitely listened to "Bagman", and "Ultra". Serious stuff.

Sure, but that's not investigative journalism. Just expanding into the lucrative historical podcast market

Sources? She provides in-depth historical documentation that ties to or illuminates current events.

Yeah OP's claim is bogus. She's a very important highly intelligent commentator. She is not investigative

Dozens of cities had lead levels worse than Flint and there was little coverage about it.

I read months back that Soros bought about 200 radio stations, nothing since. Maybe who he's hired is carefully....

The RW smear machine is relentless and millions lap it up. Hillary was right 30 years ago. Remember?

I like Maddow. But the issue is that some people think this reporting is going to make a difference.

Yep, this household has not watched MSNBC or CNN since the election day. No plans to watch in the future either.

Maybe it will make a difference and maybe it won't but doing nothing is not an option.

Rachel's research and her desire to inform is what I'm referring to..watching her on tv is the means to get that info

I really like Rachel's style; her personality, her commentary, her ability to penetrate to the nitty-gritty of the thin.
