as a general principle that when ANY member of ANY vulnerable group is attacked we defend them as if we ourselves had been attacked.

It so happens that right now the transgender community is on the front line. The one substack I didn't unsubscribe from is called "Erin in the Morning," a place for the transgender community to discuss the assault on them. I see in their words the bewilderment, the anger and the panic as they try to figure out the hundreds of new proposed laws against them, various new rules and regulations, to compare notes on getting their passports, etc...

As your post illustrates, the chosen out-group of the moment can change overnight.

We need to remain flexible, watch closely, and react swiftly however we can--and I understand that we cannot perform miracles. And at the very, very least we can bear witness and share what we have seen.
