Democratic Lawmaker In Awe Over GOP Colleagues: 'What's Wrong With You People?'
(Huff Post) Speaking on the House floor, Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) tore into his colleagues on the other side of the aisle, frustrated with their apparent willingness to shepherd a version of President Donald Trumps so-called Big Beautiful Bill into law. I say to my Republican colleagues: Whats wrong with you people? McGovern said Wednesday during a period of debate on the massive piece of legislation. As ranking member of the House Rules Committee, McGovern oversaw his partys speaking time on the floor. The Democrats used it to hammer home the impact the bill would have on essential government benefits, with big cuts to the SNAP food assistance program and Medicaid.

(AP) New Trump administration rules that give millions of people a shorter timeframe to sign up for the Affordable Care Acts health care coverage are facing a legal challenge from Democratic mayors around the country. The rules, rolled out last month, reverse a Biden-era effort to expand access to the Affordable Care Acts health insurance, commonly called Obamacare or the ACA. The previous Democratic administration expanded the enrollment window for the coverage, which led to record enrollment.

(The Hill) The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) said Wednesday they were preparing to initiate a $1 million lawsuit on behalf of a U.S. citizen detained in Los Angeles after recording a raid at a local Home Depot store. The civil rights organization filed a claim against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regarding the treatment of Job Garcia, 37, a Ph.D. student and photographer.

(LA Times) Following a surge in arrests by armed, masked federal immigration agents in unmarked cars, some California Democrats are backing a new bill in Congress that would bar officials from covering their faces while conducting raids. The No Masks for ICE Act, introduced by Rep. Nydia Velázquez (D-New York) and co-sponsored by more than a dozen Democrats, would make it illegal for federal agents to cover their faces while conducting immigration enforcement unless the masks were required for their safety or health.

(KABC) The El Rancho Unified School District released video that allegedly shows ICE and Border Patrol agents urinating at a school campus in Pico Rivera. The incident happened the morning of June 17. The school district says that 10 marked and unmarked cars with federal agents pulled into Salazar High School at 9115 Balfour Street. Campus cameras captured some of those agents urinating on school grounds, school district leaders said. School board leaders called the federal agents' actions "deeply disturbing."

But the California husband and father is sticking to his guns, as reported by Fox11 on Tuesday. Sahakyans wife, Arpineh Masihi, entered the U.S. as a three-year-old refugee when her family fled Iran. Like many of the 400,000 Iranian-born immigrants living in the US, Masihi obtained a green card, settled in the Los Angeles area, and started a family.
