1. There is no need to clinically diagnose Trump

I am not a mental health expert but I am a behavioral scientist. Experts can avoid any discussions of diagnosing Trump and can instead just talk about his objectively dysfunctional behaviors (including speech), many of which present as a pattern over many years. Experts don't need to get into the potential underlying causes of those behaviors because this might run afowl of their professional ethics. The underlying causes might be interesting, but they are not essential to the telling of the Trump dysfunction.
