Then going before the Congress and on National News to explain what was going wrong that they were reacting to. They have power in heir status and years of experience. They tried to answer with scripted talking points like most of Trump's cabinet flunkies. It's sad to see professionals who had to work and achieve their whole lives to get where they are ignore the power that they have and just cave to Trump.
