Overnight US-Israeli strikes hit Iranian cities as infrastructure and universities targeted - Al Jazeera English [View all]

Overnight US-Israeli strikes have hit multiple areas across Tehran, with infrastructure and academic sites among the targets, including Sharif University of Technology, one of Iran’s leading technical institutions. Footage shows extensive damage to buildings, laboratories and nearby facilities, while a gas installation close to the campus was also reportedly struck.

The strikes extended beyond the capital to cities including Karaj, Shiraz, Isfahan, Bushehr and Bandar Lengeh, with casualties reported, including civilians and children in areas near Tehran. Iranian officials say more than 30 universities have been damaged since the start of the campaign, describing the attacks as targeting academic and civilian infrastructure.

Authorities have also raised concerns over nuclear-related sites, including areas near the Bushehr nuclear power plant, as well as facilities in Natanz and Fordow. Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation condemns the strikes as “a crime against science and humanity,” while urging international action over potential contamination risks.
