'Quit kicking us in the nuts': Republicans want outspoken GOP Rep. Bacon to tone it down - Velshi - MSNBC [View all]
The Wall Street Journal recently labeled Nebraska congressman Don Bacon as “Trump’s Loud Republican Critic” and his outspokenness has also rubbed some of his GOP colleagues the wrong way. “They said, ‘Can you quit kicking us in the nuts?’” Rep. Bacon tells Ali Velshi.
These days, he finds himself at odds with members of his own party simply because he tells it like it is. He says Trump has “abused the word ‘emergency’” in order to execute his power grab and calls tariffs a “glorified sales tax.” As one of the few swing district Republicans, he brings a unique perspective to the modern Republican Party. “I want to fight for the soul of our party,” he says. - Aired on 05/17/2025.
