Why the bad reviews for "Glass"? I liked it. (Little bit spoilers.) [View all]
"Glass" was actually a pretty good movie.
The only downside I see is that the middle chapter, with the psychiatrist-sessions, was too rushed. It would take many more sessions with a patient to get this far into his mind.
Okay, it wasn't a typical superhero-movie, but that's because it wasn't supposed to be a superhero-movie about superheroes fighting supervillains. It was a thriller, a drama, from the very beginning to the very end.

Glass disappoints so brazenly, squandering all its momentum and promise, that I keep wondering if its done on purpose. This is a movie in which a climactic moment hinges on a pothole. Most of it takes place indoors. Not a single building gets smashed, and the villains elderly mom explains to everyone what a showdown isand then said showdown doesnt happen.
Oh boo-hoo.
So its strange that in Glass, he seems to forget what makes superhero stories (his included) endure. Its not just the powers or the who-would-win. Its also how people who choose to be good inspire us, and what those who choose evil tell us about ourselves.
Somebody is unhappy that Hollywood didn't press the feel-good buttons for his mind.
How dare Shyamalan make a story about superheroes that is different from the stories we are used to???
