My daughter washed and dried a jacket that had a pen and a pack of Newports in the pocket [View all]

Her, her husband and her two teenage daughters have been living with us for about a year and a half. I love them but they can be pretty thoughtless and lazy. My son, her brother, washed his clothes, (which now smell like ciggs) but the real surprise is the smears of black ink, two bic pens (sort of melted but not onto drier that he could see), cigarette smell and debris. He looked into the washer and, sure enough, black ink smears and cigarette debris. Does anyone know how to guide or advise?

If it's just unburned tobacco (as that's what's usually in a 'pack') it's not a big deal. Hugh_Lebowski Jun 2023 #6
