(17,843 posts)Ironically, the only porn that tries to sell passion -- or that the participants have a relationship -- is labelled "female friendly." The bulk is as erotic as watching grass growing. That's not counting the large amounts which are frankly about abuse and humiliation.
Wasn't always that way. Lots of variation, of course, but when porn became "mainstream" in the 70's, a lot of it made attempts at art, humor, story, and projecting the idea that sex was a nice thing to do, not an exercise between strangers who couldn't care less about each other. I have this wild-ass theory that it is part of Their ongoing attempt to divide and rule, to set men against women, to depersonalize love and force us all into tight, individual boxes in which we can trust or care about no one. Makes it so much easier to instill the fear necessary to keep us in thrall. And probably reflects Their own world-view. (Whoever They are, of course)
That entitlement. Disturbing indeed, and not just the sexual entitlement, but the generalized entitlement. Paul Ryan put it best in his high school yearbook: "I want what I want when I want it."
