Thank you, Judi! I am a nerd and science is a good way to escape from the horror of trump.

Neanderthal art is great! I am not surprised as their cranial capacity was equal to or slightly great than ours. So much more to be known. I loved Jean Auel's depiction of them in Clan of the Cave Bear series (great books!). I believe their voice box was not down far enough for them to pronounce vowels and would have hindered conversational abilities. Also, I do not know if they had the FOXP2 gene. Seems like they may have had. Limited speech ability would have hindered them developing a society, but the limit may have been physical and not mental. So much to be curious about!

Again Judi, thanks for this post. I have read other posts from you that were also great. Nerds are awesome!
