As a now tombstoned carpet used to like to remind us, Catholic Charities are incorporated as separate entities from dioceses. Bankruptcy of a diocese does not affect the other entity as virtually no moneys are connected between the two at the organizational level. The RCC and many of the dioceses have taken additional steps to protect their capital assets from victims’ lawsuits.
