It's additional evidence that the RCC hierarchy is putting stumbling blocks in the way of law enforcement and the law in general. It grudgingly hands over some information, while concealing other information that demonstrates the church's culpability in the epidemic of child sexual abuse by priests and bishops.

The hierarchy's goal clearly includes concealment and obfuscation of efforts by lay authorities to root out the horrible crimes committed by members of its clergy. The rot within the RCC includes the very top levels of its leadership.

The corruption and defensive evasion are deep, invasive, and systemic. The only solution, in the end, will be to dissolve the organization completely and for its followers to seek other organizations.
