Mass Effect 3 - is this a game for me? [View all]

I'm not that much of a gamer, I've got a couple of games I've bought and not even played. I bought one and gameplay was so horrible (you had to hold down the left cursor button just to keep your character walking in a straight line) that it put me off PC gaming for awhile and I have no intention of getting into console gaming. I've got a Wii sitting in the corner gathering dust that I've used for less than an hour.

I watched my son destroy his life with WoW addiction. I liked Doom and several of the Valve games including Half-life 2 and Counter-Strike but prefer single-player mode. I'm tired of being screamed at for being a newbie. I like first-person shooters and loathe spell-casting games.

CAN$60 seems pretty steep for a game so I'd like to know what it's about before I fork out cash.

Is this a game I'm going to enjoy?

Also, why does it have to have an internet connection? Licensing, or is it only an MMORPG?
