6. Only in 1918 because of WWI. The season ended early, and the Series began on September 5, and was over on the 11th.

Traditionally, during the 154 game season, the regular season began in mid April, and ended on the last weekend in September or the first couple of days in October, depending on how the calendar was situated. When the 162 game season came in, the season start was pushed up to early April, but ended at the same time as always.
