2. For the first time in 30 years, they've visited my suet feeders.

The cold snap of the last few weeks brought them from the trees around the yard to the house. It's been a treat to see them up close and personal.

They help hummingbirds in the spring because the hummingbirds feed from the same holes the sapsuckers make in trees. It's a good food source for them before flowers bloom.
