Anyone replaced a car part with carbon fiber? [View all]

I stumbled onto a YouTube chain of videos about DIY carbon fiber forming of vehicle parts. Some used existing parts, while others used mock-ups from foam, cardboard, and the like. For certain things, particularly when a parts supply has disappeared, this seems a viable option. I've thought about a 3D printer, but they are expensive.

I doubt that a valve cover would be a wise choice. However, dash components are something that can be hard to find, and the plastic gets brittle over time.
