Most take a minimum course load during the semester while they are playing, then make up the remainder of hours to meet the NCAA advancement standards during the off semester and with summer courses. I believe that only 24 credit hours are needed each year to stay eligible. However, there are some outstanding student-athletes that somehow find the dedication and time to perform admirably in their sport and in the classroom.
