Rubin told me that when he sparred Liston in the gym in Philly the last time, when he took his headgear off, it was bloody. His ear was bleeding. He knew that Sonny hadn't gone hard on him, but that his punches were all powerful. Rubin knew that it would be insane for him to spar Liston again. So even being on Sonny's good side could be risky!
