Is your wife the only caregiver? Did she work with this man before the last aide did? Or is that aide, whom she thinks damaged her patient, still working with him?

Why, exactly does she think the aide damaged him? In what way? What is her evidence for that, as compared to some other cause, such as a deterioration of his condition that would have happened anyway?
